Moxibustion is the ancient practice of using artemisia vulgaris (mugwort/moxa) on specific acupuncture points to treat a range of symptoms; Including musculoskeletal complaints, fatigue, digestive and respiratory disorders.
The treatment does not aim to scar or burn, rather we use a range of applications in order to achieve the desired effect of gently warming and nourishing the body.
- Direct Moxibustion
(Small rice grain sized cones are applied to the acupuncture points to achieve a gentle warming sensation)
- Indirect Moxibustion
(Larger cone shaped pieces of moxa are used to illicit a cooling effect on the body)
- Needle Head Moxibustion
(Smokeless Ondan (coals) are safely and securely placed on the end of a fine needle resulting in a penetrating and nourishing heat deep into the muscle or joint.
